Halloween costumes and 'looks' have come a long way since the good old days when you'd daub on some cheap face paint and sport a bad wig to celebrate.
For film fans in particular, there are an abundance of Halloween-appropriate characters - from terrifying villains like Freddy Krueger, to more family-friendly ones such as Minnie Mouse.
She says: "My real inspiration though came on the weekends from the kids who went to the eccentric local club and drag queens who all inspired me to explore outlandish party looks."
This turned Jody to sharing her looks online with other make-up enthusiasts.
Incorporating some recognisable looks with more unique ones, Jody shows she is MORE than ready for Halloween with several terrifying transformations.
With all this choice and inspiration, many make-up fans have turned it into a fine art. Seattle-based blogger and make-up artist Jody has eight years experience in the beauty industry after getting into make-up artistry after school and studying fashion.
1. Freddy Krueger/victim
Like many of us, Jody was terrified by the 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' character when growing up(Image: Monroe Misfit Makeup)Of this look, Jody says: "I was going for half Freddy, half unsuspecting dumb blonde slow running victim!
"Special effects makeup isn't an area I usually work in, but I think it turned out pretty ugly!"

2. Terminatrix
The Terminator gets a make-over with a twist for Halloween(Image: Monroe Misfit Makeup)Describing her inspiration behind her Terminatrix look, Jody says: "One of my dad's favorite movies is 'The Terminator' and he's always quoting lines from it.
"It's light on the gore with the Monroe Misfit Makeup glamour twist. I wanted it to look as if my face had been ripped away revealing my true form.
"I rarely do special effects and gore makeup, so if I can give it a go, anyone can."

3. "Pop Tart" Graffiti Girl
It may not be the most straightforward look to perfect (it requires a prosthetic), but it certainly has an impact(Image: Monroe Misfit Makeup)Not for the faint-hearted, this is one of Jody's favourite looks.
"This one embodies glamour, grit and pop art, and all that's weird.
"Based on one of my favorite artists, a London-based Street Graffiti Artist known as D*face , it's a take on his work of a decayed Marilyn image titled 'Pop Tart'."

4. Monroe Misfit Monster
Be warned, this look requires A LOT of make up(Image: Monroe Misfit Makeup)This is another look Jody created and honed, inspired by both Marilyn herself and the punk rock band, The Misfits.
Explaining how it can be perfected further, Jody says: "For a more final version I'd block out the brows and get more detailed with the teeth and shading.
"It's a bit disturbing it took half the products to look like a monster, and twice as many for the normal makeup!"

4. Unzipped
'Unzipped' is a bit more of a low-maintenance look, but still has a pretty gruesome effect(Image: Monroe Misfit Makeup)Explaining this look is "an oldie but a goodie!", Jody originally put together this look when she first started getting in to makeup.
"I still love the effect, and I was all out of ideas for what to do for a last-minute event.
"MAC Halloween Face Charts are a great way to get 'halloweeny' when a costume isn't required or you don't have time to put one together, and this one is pretty easy to do!"
Jody explains that this is a good look if you're stuck for something at short noitce(Image: Monroe Misfit Makeup)Aware that not every party-goer and trick-or-treater will have a make-up bag as well-stocked make-up as her own, Jody has also come up with her five cosmetic must-haves for Halloween. 1. Fake Eye Lashes 2. Red Lipstick 3. Black Eyeshadow 4. Basic Face Paint Kit 5. Fake Blood

Think war is crazy? You wouldn’t be wrong... There have been more stupid conflicts for dafter reasons than you could imagine, not to mention peculiar plans, eccentric events and strange coincidences. Here author Benedict Le Vay picks some of the wacky war stories from his book and tells of the bizarre creatures who fought. In the 1930s, the military might of Australia took on an apparently easy-to-defeat enemy: the emu. Farmers – mostly veterans of the First World War who had been encouraged to settle in Western Australia, just in time for the Great Depression to slash prices for their produce – were desperate and pleaded for drastic government action to deal the emus savaging their crops. Given that the emu cannot fly, has no commanders, is generally unarmed and untrained, and an easy target at six feet tall, and that the soldiers were armed with Lewis guns and 10,000 rounds of ammunition, it should have been no contest. In fact, the emu was the clear victor. Only...
